Bio
Welcome!
Welcome to Transitional Kindergarten or otherwise known as TK. My name is Stephanie Garcia -Yu, but everyone simply refers to me as Mrs. Stephanie. I have been at Holy Angels since 2017, and have worn many hats but am currently serving as the TK Teacher, STEP Coordinator, and Student Council Moderator! I love spending time with my family and enjoy cooking and playing softball during my free time.
Education and professional Background
I have earned my Bachelors degree in Deaf studies with an emphasis in Deaf Education from California State University Northridge in 2016. I am fluent in American Sign Language and try to integrate it into my curriculum as much as I can. Additionally, I have received my Masters in Administration and Policy as well as my K-8th Multiple Subject credential for Loyola Marymount University in 2021. I started out at Holy Angels as teachers aide, but I have also served at the 8th Grade Religion teacher and K-8 interim Resource teacher.
Educational Philosophy
I believe education should focus on the whole student, cultivating their social, emotional and academic development. Early Education is a vital step to a child's school career and it is my philosophy to help students adapt to their academic independence at the early education level. Creating a classroom culture that teaches students of acceptance and respect no matter their backgrounds is important in my philosophy. Lastly, learning should be fun and students should be introduced to learning in many different forms.
