Bio
Welcome!
Welcome to Kindergarten!! My name is Melinda Anaya, although the kids know me as Ms. Melinda. I am the vice principal, Kindergarten teacher, Early Education Assistant Director and Student Council moderator and have been at Holy Angels since 2000! My favorite thing is seeing a child's growth throughout the school year and seeing my Kindergarteners graduate from 8th grade, high school and even college!
Education and Professional Background
I earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Spanish from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. I received my Advanced Core Certificate for Supervisors and Administrators of Children Ages 0-5 through the University of California at Los Angeles Extension. I completed K-8th Multiple Subject Credential from Azusa Pacific University as well as a Masters in Educational Technology and Learning. I started at Holy Angels in the Pre-Kindergarten class first as an aide, then a teacher, before I made the big jump into Kindergarten and have been here ever since.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe in creating an inviting and faith filled classroom environment that promotes respect, honesty, safety, responsibility, participation, trust, and risk tasking. I believe that it is important to give my little learners challenges and that making mistakes is how we learn. My students are like seeds, with some love and care, they all bloom at different times.
