Welcome!
Hello! My name is Ms. Shasta Cales. This is my third year at Holy Angels and sixth year teaching. I am a math teacher turned art teacher with a huge appreciation for both subjects. I am originally from Chicago, Illinois and have still not fully adjusted to the California heat.
Education and Professional Background
I have a Bachelors degree in Art and Illustration from Azusa Pacific University and am in currently in a Masters program at California State University of Los Angeles. I have taught art classes for TK up to high school and math classes for fourth grade up to high school. Outside of Holy Angels I have worked in animation and concept art for marketing and merchandise as well as video games.
My Educational Philosophy
In all my time as a teacher, I have never accepted the excuse that someone is "bad" at art or mathematics. I believe that any student can become proficient as an artist OR mathematician with the proper guidance and diligent effort no matter where they may be starting. My goal is inspire kids to be creative and inventive while improving their skills and understanding.
